Much has happened, and no time to post, so let me try to recap.

First, Saturday. Dance was fun, and I enjoyed my first time playing fiddle in a street set, even if I was only playing a few of the notes - thank you to [livejournal.com profile] laviolinista for the lessons on how to fake it at dance speed the day before. There was some begging to ensure that Kay and I got to dance Mage together that day, as it was the dance I proposed to her after. The handfasting went wonderfully despite various minor hitches. The Major, [livejournal.com profile] fencerkevin, and S.C. did a wonderous job with the feast - the food was amazing. Still waiting on the bill for the feast, but the estimates we've been given are impressively low for feeding ~70 people. It was interesting to see my family and Kay's family in garb, kudos to [livejournal.com profile] barelyproper for her ability to garb people on the spot. They seemed to enjoy themselves. [livejournal.com profile] klellingson heralded the start of the ceremony a little while after our first dance set, and [livejournal.com profile] laviolinista did a wonderful job of officiating. Though Kay and I couldn't take picures for obvious reasons, both our cameras were in use by my parents - still need to develop the film. We had a lot of fun at the end symbolically binding all our friends and family to us by tossing a ball of the Major's handspun yarn amongst everyone for a giant cat's cradle sort of effect. As others have mentioned, we even managed to rope in the oak tree. I'd not quite thought through what would happen when we tossed a ball of yarn to a large gathering of felines - there was much meowing, and our poor officiant was greeted by responses of "NO!" and "Are we out of yarn yet?" when she asked if people were done with it. I'm quite impressed that the yarn got all wound back up afterwards.

Before leaving, my parents dragged us away from the festivities to transfer our surprise gift for the Major over to Kay's car. My mom is simply amazing in her ability to find nearly anything at antique stores/yard sales/estate sales. In this case, I'd heard the Major lament the fact that her mother-in-law's treadle sewing machine was designated for her sister-in-law, so I mentioned to Mom that I knew someone who wanted one, on the off chance she found one - mom asked for a price range, and I just forgot to ever ask the Major. So one morning, I got a call from mom saying that she'd found a ~1910 Singer one in good shape, and at the price she'd found, Kay and I decided to get it as a surprise gift, as a thank you for all the hospitality and help the Major has given us.

We dragged her out to the car and showed her the machine, in pieces that night, and made plans to drop it off at her place Sunday night after Faire. She was suitably pleased/shocked/stunned by the gift (and I suspect that she thinks we paid far more than we did for it - I don't plan on disillusioning her) Sunday night, we dropped it off and got everything set up enough that it was stable, if not put together properly (it had to be taken partially apart to fit in the car. I really want to hear what Kelly's reaction is to this one.(The guy The Major has service her sewing machines)

Sunday at Faire was a lot of fun, and my new boots proved their worth by preventing me from injuring my ankle yet again at Faire Oaks, making this the first year in a long while where I have come away intact from that faire. Major kudos to Allen Gray of Sun Leather for a beautiful set of custom boots, and excellent customer service. They're worth every penny I paid for them, and I recommend him highly to anyone else who wants to get a custom set of boots for faire. I got the standard moccasin style boots, but instead of buttons on one side, they just have the tabs the lacing threads through on both, which makes for a bit more support, I think, and a somewhat more period look - I really like how the style turned out. Must post pics of them when I get a chance to take some.

After the second set, Kay and I got drubbed for "Covetousness and Immodesty", only because they wouldn't take "Excessive Public Displays of Affection" as a charge. It was actually a lot of fun, and would have been even more so if the weather had been more typical for that faire, though I was glad it wasn't at hot as usual. On Guildmistress' advice, I left my boots in the care of [livejournal.com profile] battymaiden as she photographed the whole thing. After being released from the stocks, we were completely unrepentant, and immediately started doing what got us thrown in there in the first place - this got Kay swatted with a wooden spoon, but strangely, I got off unpunished. Applebee's after faire was much fun, and we quite packed the place. I managed to give [livejournal.com profile] internet_addict a flyer for the summer camp my brother, [livejournal.com profile] malacoda is director of, in case he's intersted in sending Boyo there.

Most of the week was uneventful until Thursday, though Monday the Major and I finally found a way to get her PCR reactions working again, at least to the point where she can continue tests in her own lab - it's good to be able to help a friend with troubleshooting. Also, many exchanges of emails with lender at USE credit union, it looks like Kay and I can afford a home loan, and while cannot afford Davis, Woodland or W. Sac are likely - [livejournal.com profile] agengrgal, would Sunday next (July 10) work for taking you up on your offer to show us around the region? We meet with the realtor to start seriously looking June 11th, now that we have a price range.

Thursday, I went in and got my wisdom teeth pulled - only the upper two, as for some reason that's all I have. I opted for light sedation, but don't remember any of the procedure between when the needle went into my arm and when the Major picked me up from the Oral Surgeon's. Note to self, must go back there and retrieve my bike. Since Kay was stuck at work, the Major took me home and got me set up with smoothies & changes of gauze, etc, all while chatting and doing massive cleaning work on my kitchen. Very impressed, it hasn't been that clean since move-in. At one point she stopped and was amused, as apparently when she had wisdom teeth pulled, her mother came by to take care of her, and cleaned *her* kitchen. Eventually, [livejournal.com profile] ribbin, [livejournal.com profile] sillymesaysme, and S.C. came by and hung around for a while, until they all went off to Pryanksters, and I went to sleep, with instructions to keep meds and phone by the bed, and to call if I needed anything. I love my friends, they're great folks.

Friday, I took off of work, in the interests if taking it somewhat easy & recovering. Besides, as my boss had her wisdom teeth out only a couple months ago and knows what it's like, I suspect if I'd tried to show up, I'd have been summarily sent home. Since Kay also had the day off, it made for a most enjoyable, and very productive day. We hit the thrift stores in town, purportedly to find her work clothes, but I couldn't resist throwing a lot of generally fun looking stuff at her. Though I must point out that she's the one who found the corset-like item, not knowing the terms for women's underwear, I don't know what to call it, but it looks damn good on her. :) After that, we wandered down to Golden 1 credit union and opened a joint account for household stuff, something we've been meaning to do for a while. And since I was feeling so good, we decided to head down to [livejournal.com profile] zhaneel69 and [livejournal.com profile] fan_boy's LAN party, turned up around 10PM, and set up, then played Settlers for a while, as we were the first ones there. Eventually went to sleep after watching [livejournal.com profile] fan_boy play WoW for a while. Still at the net party now, and we plan to be here through around noon tomorrow, when we go meet Kay's stepmom for lunch, then go to her dad's place for a BBQ. Probably will come back to the LAN party in the evening, but may go home. In any case, we intend to make it back to Davis for [livejournal.com profile] loupyone's BBQ Monday.

OK, that was long.

This weekend I'm gonna try to kick a$$ on hanging cabinets and such. I have to leave it open for those that can help me (aka stepdad). Might we do this on a weekday evening this week??? I can plan a path, make a map, and do it in relatively short order . . . oh, and I gotta get that cr4p out of the back of my car too. Wednesday or Friday may be viable options. Let me know how early we can meet in Davis or WSac.

Depends, Sarah doesn't get off work in Roseville until 7pm - I'll check with her - if so, I think meeting at your place would be best. Oh, and Weds. I have Fiddle Fellowship until 8, so that probably won't work.

That limits things because you need to see things in daylight. Hmmm . . . please see if she can, concievably, get off early to meet in WSac at 5-ish. Otherwise, I'm not sure when but soon. Are you busy Saturday all day?
